Q: Just wondering if there was any problem with catnip that I should know about before giving it to my cat.

I would suggest not - catnip, within and as the physical body - manifest 'dimensional shifts' within and as the being within and as the physical body of a cat - which is a deliberate act of influencing the expression of the being within and as the physical body = no different experience to a human being using drugs of sorts and has no purpose whatsoever but to deliberately influence.
